JAGUAR FACTS Jaguars were once found from Arizona to Argentina. Currently, Jaguars are found in Central and South America, with the largest population being found in Mato Grasso, Brazil. They live in a variety of habitats, from dense jungle and scrubland to reed thickets and shoreline forests. They will even live in open country, provided the grass and rocks offer enough cover for hunting, and a reliable supply of water is available. Jaguars hunt mainly on the ground and at night. They will climb trees and wait to surprise their prey! Jaguars are solitary creatures and territorial. Male and female Jaguars will meet only during mating season. The female Jaguar will have from one to four cubs. When the cubs are born they are blind and weigh only 25-32 ounces. The cubs will stay with the mother for 2 to 3 years. After that they will leave to find a territory of their own.
